Decking Up the Fred Leighton Way

I’m drooling with envy whenever I remember Cameron Diaz during the Costume Institute Gala. The stunning beauty appeared even more stunning, if that was possible. She’s was draped in a fuchsia silk organza dress made by John Galliano from Dior. Personally, I think the highlight of her look that evening was the turquoise stone jewelry made by none other than the great Fred Leighton.

Getting my hands on a similar set was a breeze. For way, way, below the cost of Fred’s turquoise, we ladies won’t be deprived of celebrity-like glitz and glam. You can find cheap but genuine - yes, GENUINE! - turquoise jewelry. Pulling off Cam’s look won’t give you wrinkles, promise.

Anyhow, being unknown AND fabulous is totally fun for me. But I have to admit that I sometimes want to give the tip of my hot-pink manicured nails in exchange for: J-Lo’s 15.80 carat rose-cut diamond earrings and her 18-carat gold and diamond necklace. Spotted on the 2007 Oscar’s, those blings were memorable! I didn’t dig Mrs. Marc Anthony’s dress that night, but I do want similar sparklers.

And if you’re a husband wanting to pull-off a Michael Douglas, you don’t have to fret about the cost of mom-and-baby matching bling-blings. Everyone in Hollywood buzzed at the diamond crucifix necklace Mr. Douglas bought for Baby Cara’s at Fred Leighton’s in Manhattan. Of course, the lovely wife got a matching item, too. My friend Toby did exactly the same thing. His wife was really thrilled, the baby daughter looked adorable, and Toby’s paternal responsibilities don’t include changing soiled diapers at all.
